Remember the ‘Lungi Dance’ song from Chennai Express in which Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan danced like crazy wearing Indian lungis? There is no doubt saying that that song made lungis quite famous. However, it is one cloth that we Indians are wearing since ages. Regarded as the most comfortable and ventilating cloth, lungis are common in the Indian households.
However, it has never been famous in urban areas. Indian fashion designers never included lungis in their designs and it failed to please youngsters.
But it looks that one of the luxurious brands, Zara has fallen in love with Indian lungis. Zara has started selling lungis and surprisingly, it is being sold as women skirts.
Giving an impressive description of their product, here’s how Zara has described lungis on their websites:
“Flowing skirt with draped detail in the front. Front slit detail at the hem. Zip fastening in the back hidden along the seam.”
What’s more shocking is the whopping price at which the brand is selling Indian lungis. The product is being sold at an exorbitant price of 69.99 British pounds that is Rs 6319. The product has caught everyone’s attention and people are going crazy over its price.
Here’s how people are reacting to Zara’s lungis:
