A horrific incident come to light when ‘Secret Superstar’ actor, Zaira Wasim went live on her Instagram handle and complained about an ordeal. The actress has alleged that she has been molested on a Vistara flight while traveling from Delhi to Mumbai. The 17-year-old actress said that she was molested mid-air by a middle-aged man, drawing strong reactions by women’s rights activists and politicians. Wasim broke down in the self-shot video while claiming that the man seated behind her moved his foot up and down her neck and back.
In her video, Zaira said:
“I just landed, the whole irony of this that I yelled… and this is not done… this is not how you should be treated or made to feel. This is terrible…This is how they will take care of girls? No one will help us if we don’t decide to help ourselves and that is the worst thing.”

We are a nation where a rape happened in broad daylight and no one intervened. But we are quick to question the victim and her intentions the moment she raises her voice. So, all you cowards out there. Zaira Wasim is a brave girl, braver than all of you. 2/2

The police have finally tracked down the alleged molester and he has now been arrested. A 39-year-old Mumbai based businessman, Vikas Sachdev is under police custody. After getting caught by the police, Vikas claimed that he was returning from a funeral and wasn’t in a great state of mind. He further added that he apologized to the 17-year-old actress for unintentionally touching her neck with his foot. He said he had no intentions of doing anything that he has been charged under.
A case under the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act and Indian Penal Code Section 354 (assault with intention to outrage a woman’s modesty) was registered against Vikas Sachdev. The POCSO act was invoked since Zaira is a minor.
However, according to India Today, Vikas’s wife has come out in his support and said:
“My husband was coming home from Delhi. His mamaji (maternal uncle) had passed away and he was not in the right frame of mind. He was feeling very low and asked for a blanket. He wanted to sleep. I am shocked at (the actor) allegation. The police have taken my husband into custody.”
The case has become critical. As it’s not clear whether the actress misunderstood the man’s actions that happened unintentionally or Vikas Sachdev is actually guilty. Some people are also claiming that Zaira has created this scene just for the sake of publicity.
