It seems like this world is becoming more and more interesting, and funny at times, day after day and year after year. Have you ever heard before any man entering in a women’s beauty pageant competition? This is what a young Kazakh man did this time and he even almost win the title. Sounds unbelievable?
Arina Aliyeva, one of the finalists of the 2018 Miss Virtual Kazakhstan beauty contest, shocked the nation after announcing that she was actually a 22-year-old man who had signed up for the contest to prove an important point.
Arina Aliyeva’s real name is Eli Diaghilev. He decided to take part in Miss Virtual Kazakhstan beauty pageant to prove and convince his friends, especially young girls, how easy physical beauty, with all the available cosmetics, digital editing tools like Photoshop, can be attained even by the opposite sex.
Diaghilev, who has been working as a male model since 17, had a good idea of what the most popular beauty trends were. So with the help of a makeup artist and hairstylist, he disguised himself as a woman, took some photos and sent them to the pageant executives with a new name Arina Aliyeva.
His pictures must have impressed everyone at the pageant and to the surprise of his friends, he made it to the finals of the Miss Virtual Kazakhstan beauty contest. He was even predicted with a real chance to win the title.
However, soon after the finalists were announced, Eli Diaghilev released a video confessing that the popular female contestant was actually him in disguise. And as soon as the confession video was aired, the pageant officials disqualified contestant Arina Aliyeva for providing false information and replaced her with another deserving contestant.
Explaining his decision to enter the Miss Virtual Kazakhstan beauty contest, Eli Diaghilev said “It was not my intention to simply deceive people, I wanted to draw the attention to the fact that adhering to the same beauty standards is not important. It’s the naturalness and individuality of each person that really matter, not something that is shown somewhere and labelled as fashionable and beautiful even if it doesn’t fit you.”
Let the story of Eli Diaghilev inspire all young girls of today’s generation to value their individuality and inner beauty more, not the outward appearance.
