The brutal killing of Apple sales executive Vivek Tiwari by a policeman in Lucknow has left the nation shocked. Vivek’s young widow Kalpana Tiwari is now in a fight against the system. The cops involved – Prashant Chowdhury and Sandeep Kumar have been arrested and sacked. It has also been revealed that efforts were made by senior police officers to cover up the story. Uttar Pradesh police chief OP Singh has expressed his concern over the entire matter. Singh has also vowed to bring out the culprits involved. And now as per a recent report, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath who has already been facing criticism over the issue, conducted a meeting with Vivek Tiwari’s wife Kalpana and his daughters today.
The meeting went on for almost 25 minutes. Later, images of a tearful Kalpana and her family members broke out on the internet. Yogi Adityanath has made many promises to the grieving family and has also offered support from the state government.
The state government has announced Rs. 25 lakh compensation for the family and Rs. 5 lakh for Mr Tiwari’s children’s education; another Rs. 5 lakh has also been given for his elderly mother.
Kalpana Tiwari who earlier called out on Yogi Adityanath and BJP government mentioned to the reporters:
“He heard what I had to say and assured help. I am in no shape to take any strong stand… I had said that I have faith in our state government… today that faith has strengthened.”
She further added:
“All my demands have been met. I wanted strict action against the guilty, a job, accommodation, expenses for education of my daughters and my mother-in-law. The Chief Minister acceded to all my demands.”
Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma has also talked about the issue. He said that the family is satisfied with the action taken. He also mentioned that all possible help would be given to the victim’s family and a govt. job would also be given to Kalpana as per her educational qualifications. It seems as if the Yogi government is trying to maintain their stronghold in the upcoming elections and do not want this incident to affect their number of voters for BJP. This may be considered as well calculated step taken keeping 2019 elections in the view.
