While it was a disappointing Olympic outing to Rio for wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt, there might be some good news in stored for him with regards to London Olympics of 2012.

According to a report in the Indian Express, Dutt’s 2012 Olympic bronze medal might be upgraded to silver as Russian wrestler Besik Kudukhov tested positive in a dope test.

Kudukhov, who won Silver in the 60-kg freestyle event in London, had died in a car crash back in 2013, but ahead of the Rio Games this month, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) did a re-test his London Games sample which failed the latest dope test.

The re-test was part of standard IOC practice, which now stores samples for up to 10 years to allow the use of advanced testing methods.

According to the Indian Express, the samples of five wrestlers, including Kudukhov tested positive for banned substances. As Kudukhov is a silver medallist, he will now lose his medal to Yogeshwar Dutt who won Bronze in London.

The upgrade would be done once IOC officially announces the failed dope test.
