As if the debate over Yakub Memon’s execution, who was convicted in 1993 Mumbai blasts, was not enough, the vice-president of Samajwadi Party’s Maharashtra unit, Mohammed Farooq Ghosi, demanded that Raheen Memon, wife of Yakub Memon, should be made a Member of Parliament (MP).
In the letter uploaded by India United, Ghosi wrote to Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav requesting him to nominate Raheen Memon as a Member of the Parliament.
“After the execution of Yakub Memon on 30 July 2015, some questions revolve in my mind. Raheen was also arrested along with her husband Yakub Memon. But later she was released by the honourable court after spending several years in the jail while Yakub Memon was convicted.”
He further added that:
“You (Mulayam Singh Yadav) are our leader and have always supported the needy and helpless people. Today I can see that Raheen is also helpless like other Muslims in the country. We should try to support such people by making Raheen a Member of Parliament. I am writing this letter with hope that you will guide us.”
