China on August 16 successfully launched world’s first quantum satellite which boasts of “hack-proof” communication.

According to China, the communication between space and the ground via this satellite cannot be hacked as it is equipped with security features to prevent wiretapping and intercepts.

According to Chinese news agencies, the satellite which weighs more than 600kgs, was launched at 1:40AM and after reaching the orbit will circle the Earth once every 90 minutes.

It has been nicknamed “Micius” after a 5th Century Chinese Scientist.

‘Micius’ is on a two-year space mission where it will establish “hack-proof” quantum communications by transmitting uncrackable keys from space to the ground.

The experiment is expected to provide detailed insights into the strangest phenomenon in quantum physics – quantum entanglement.

The reason ‘Micius’ cannot be hacked is because it boasts is ultra-high security to quantum photon which can neither be separated nor duplicated.
