India Begins Work On Himachal-Ladakh Rail Link To Boost Tourism And Keep Eye On China

India recently started work on much-needed railway network between Himachal-Ladakh so as develop the region, and keep a close eye on China.

To get the work started quickly, the Modi government recently handed over the responsibility of final location survey work to Rail India Technical and Economic Service (RITES), so as to get railway line between Bilaspur-Mandi-Manali and Leh connected.

The government also released the initial Rs 40 crore out of the total Rs 157 crore allotted for the survey work to make sure there is no delay.

The total cost of construction of the 498-km railway line has been estimated at Rs 50,000 crore.

The Bilaspur-Manali-Leh railway line has very high strategic importance as it would boost tourism in Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh area.
