With the National Green Tribunal (NGT) having banned all types of demonstrations and protests at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi, several types of queer protests that had been going on at the site for quite some time now are coming into the limelight. One of the most interesting of them all is the sole sit-in protest by Jai Shanti Sharma, a 45 year old woman from Jaipur.
The 45-year-old woman has been on a punishing hunger strike for the past one month with a queer demand, for which she has been called ‘a crazy woman’. No, she does not demand a car, a job or anything else – all she desires is to get married to the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. When asked by a Hindi news channel, she responded that she wishes to marry him because she cannot think of anything else but him and holds a belief that she understands him properly.
Jai Shanti elaborated that she had been married but was ditched by her husband only a year after. Although she has had quite a few marital offers since then, she believes that only Modi has the capability of truly understanding her and that their match would just be perfect.
