While the rest of the country celebrates the 70th Independence Day, the security personnel in the valley have been ordered to keep a strict eye for any suspicious activities. In the center of Srinagar, a woman was filmed shouting ‘Vande Mataram‘ and ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai‘.
The woman, who appeared to be of Kashmiri origin, took to Lal Chowk in Srinagar and shouted slogans on Independence Day. A number of police personnel secured her as she pleaded fellow Indians to shout ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai‘ as well.

Since the dawn of Independence, the tension between India and Pakistan have nurtured militancy in Kashmir. The Hurriyat is allegedly supported by Pakistan which wants to ensure that the valley remains burning. Recently, several separatist leaders have been asking people to stop shouting “pro-India” slogans and demand for a separate Kashmir.
