Has it ever happened that you found a place, or a thing, so strikingly beautiful that you feel like calling it your own? What lengths would you go to, to express your love and commitment for that place or thing? In a bizarre incident, a woman in California, USA, has tied the knot with a train station.
Carol, 45, fell in love with Santa Fe train station at the tender age of 9. Since then, she has been relentlessly pursuing it. To take her relationship with the station on next level, she recently married the train station and became Carol Santa Fe. She has fondly named the station Daidra.
When we got married, I stood there and I told her that I take it as my partner. It was the happiest day of our lives.
She swears by her love for the station and travels by bus for 45 minutes to meet her spouse without fail. Her nuptials are not recognized by the government. Carol also kept her love closeted fearing that the authorities might ban her from meeting her partner.
We first consummated our love a few years ago when I felt the wall behind me, and I felt this energy. I came close to an orgasm and I was scared I’d get caught by the station staff.
Carol identifies herself as an Objectum Sexual in which a person feels sexually attracted to inanimate objects and structures. She explains her attraction to the building,
When I’m touching her, I feel as though it actually holds me and kisses me. I don’t have physical sex with the station in public, I want to be respectful.
I do have sex with Daidra in my mind when I stand there.
I especially like when I hear the trains rev up their engines – it turns me on.
According to psychotherapist Jerry Brooker,
Someone who falls in love with objects can control that relationship on their own terms…Their objects will not let them down. That is extremely attractive for a person who is otherwise often desperately lonely.
Carol is not the first woman to identify as Objectum Sexual. In 2008, an American woman named Erika made headlines after marrying the Eiffel Tower. People have been debating whether to define this as a mental condition, sexuality or a fetish. For Carol, this is a type of sexuality just like being gay, straight, or bisexual.
