With no respect for our law and judicial system, a woman in Delhi lodged a false rape case in 2014, as reported by Hindustan Times.

The woman in her complaint alleged that within a month of her marriage in February 2013, her husband and in-laws began physically torturing her and demanding dowry of 10 lakh along with gold jewelry.

She also alleged that her brothers-in-law and father-in-law had unnatural sex with her and threatened her.

However, during her cross-examination in court, she confessed that allegations were false and it was revealed that she filed the case to get rid of her “impotent husband”.

A local court in Delhi recently acquitted the man and his family members of the charges of raping, molesting and threatening his wife, stating the woman lodged a false complaint.

Additional sessions judge Virender Bhat said:

“… Her marriage was not consummated on account of impotency of her husband, which was the sole reason for her strained relations with her husband and in-laws. She had left her matrimonial house only for this reason and filed a false complaint only to put pressure upon her husband and in-laws to divorce her.”

While we may be tempted to hate the woman for her actions, it stands to reason that her in-laws should not have gotten their son married when he was impotent, and once the woman asked for a divorce, should have given it to her.
