Bollywood’s legendary actor Aamir Khan celebrated his 53rd Birthday on March 14, 2018. While the actor has now been in the industry for nearly three decades, he is known only for his hardwork and for being a perfectionist.
It’s a known fact that Aamir never attends any award functions and doesn’t accept awards, what many people don’t know is that all of this started back in 1991 and that too over a Filmfare award.
In the year 1991 Aamir was nominated for the Best Actor category of Filmfare for his movie ‘Dil,’ that same year actor Sunny Deol was nominated for that same award for the movie ‘Ghayal’.
Aamir had very high hopes for his performance and hoped it would get him the ‘Best Actor Award’ at the Filmfare which had eluded him the previous two years. But that was not to be and the award instead went to Sunny Deol for his performance in ‘Ghaayal’.

The series of events left Aamir very angry and he thus vowed never go to any award function or accept any award.
Since 1991 Aamir has nominated for the ‘Best Actor’ Filmfare 17 times and despite winning it three times he has never accepted the award.
What we must tell you is that despite his brilliant performances and being nominated for the ‘Best Actor’ category every year from 1989 till 1997, it was only in 1997 that he won his first Filmfare (he won the ‘Best debutant’ award in 1989) for his movie ‘Raja Hindustani.’
After 1997 he won his next ‘Best Actor’ award in the year 2002 for the movie ‘Lagaan’ and then again in 2017 for the movie Dangal.
