Following the controversy generated from the viral video of a BSF jawan complaining over the quality of food, the Indian Army has been taking major steps to make the redressal system more robust.
From now on, any soldier can complain to the Chief of the Army Staff directly using a WhatsApp number.
The number, +91 9643 300008, is open to all army personnel for airing their grievances to Army Chief General Bipin Rawat.

The Army says that there are proper redressal systems within the army to address the grievances. But if any soldier does not feel satisfied after exhausting all the options, they can approach the Army chief on the number.
But some army officials were sceptical of this method because the number is open to all. Anyone can send anything to the WhatsApp number and it would be very difficult to chaff out genuine grievances from others.
How the Army manages to keep the number from being misused is to be seen.

Besides coming out with new redressal methods, the Army has also been taking strict measures against soldiers who take to social media to air their grievances. General Bipin Rawat had earlier warned such soldiers that they can be punished because their actions affect troop morale.
Following the BSF jawan’s controversial video, some other soldiers too posted videos on social media with their complaints.
