So, girls, here’s a list of things we have collected and brought for you to help you deal with the situation of ‘periods’ every month, and that you can use to end it faster.
1. Drink as much water and fluids as possible.
Drinking lots of fluids can help in an easy flow and can shorten the period. It is said that drinking 6 to 8 litres of water helps to shorten the duration of the period.
2. Exercise or work out regularly
Working out regularly can help ensure periods end quickly. It is said that cardio workouts such as biking and jogging are found to be particularly helpful. However, it is cautioned that one must stay in a constant state of hydration and consume plenty of fluids while exercising.
3. Apply heat by using a hot water bag
Applying some heat on the abdominal area encourages menstrual fluids to leave your body faster, thus making your period end sooner. It is said that placing a heating pad for five to ten minutes for nearly 3 to 4 times in a day helps to a large extent.
4. Have intercourse
Having an orgasm through intercourse is another easy way to get period end faster. It can also reduce cramping and other discomforts. Having sex can cause the urinal muscle contraction, which helps shed the blood more quickly, thus reducing the duration of the period.
5. Massage with Oil
6. Take more vitamin C
Vitamin C helps the body absorb iron and this strengthens the blood vessels. A diet rich in vitamin C helps reduce the level of the hormone progesterone in the body. This helps in reducing the duration of the period. Some good sources of vitamin C are lemons, oranges, bell peppers, dark leafy greens, kiwis, broccoli, berries, grapefruits, tomatoes, peas and papayas.
7. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicines after proper medical consultation with doctor.
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicines like aspirin, naproxen and ibuprofen can help reduce the swelling of the uterine walls which in turn reduces the heavy menstrual flow and pain associated with it. But one must take them only after consultation with physician and as per instructions.
8. Use pads instead of tampons.
Tampons tend to avoid the blood flow while trying to absorb the blood, this lengthens the duration of the period. Using sanitary pads is a better choice because they allow blood to flow out easily.
9. Take diet that is rich in fruits and vegetables.
Food that is rich in carotene helps reduce the duration of the period. Carotene is mostly found in orange fruits and vegetables like carrots, papaya and other colorful vegetables and fruits.
Do share this with all the girls you know. This might surely help them. However, girls are advised to consult a doctor or a gynaecologist before they indulge in any of these. For, not everyone can get accustomed to everything.
