Shane Warne has lost a bet to our very own Sourav Ganguly. The former Australia spinner will be wearing the England jersey for a day now!
It all started when Shane Warne and Sourav Ganguly met at the Aaj Tak Salaam Cricket event in London. The former rivals had a discussion about England vs Australia Champions Trophy clash where Ganguly was confident about England’s victory in the match. Sourav Ganguly even agreed that he would wear the Australian jersey if the Aussies won. He also said that in case the reverse happened, Warne would have to wear England’s jersey.
Here’s the conversation they had during the event:
Ganguly: England is a very good side. They have a number of match-winners in their side. They have good side, better than Australia, I firmly believe.
Warne: You think England are better than Australia. You buying me dinner if Australia wins on June 10 and it won’t be McDonald’s.
Ganguly: I actually back England to win.
Warne: That’s what I am saying, I’ll buy you dinner if England wins.
Ganguly: Fair enough.
Warne: One more thing. If Australia wins, you will wear an Australia shirt for day and if England wins, I’ll wear an England shirt.
Ganguly: No problem.
Dada was extremely confident about England’s victory and this is why he happily accepted the terms and conditions of the bet. Now when Australia lost the match by 40 runs, it was Warne’s turn to fulfill the terms he himself presented during the event!
And Shane Warne showed great spirit and accepted his defeat. Soon after Australia’s defeat against England, Warne tweeted this:
