Today is the day when Anil Kumble created history at Feroz Shah Kotla by taking all ten wickets in an innings against Pakistan. It was a nerve-racking test match, and on the fourth day, Pakistan needed 420 runs to win. They started off well and reached the score of 101 with no loss of wickets. And, then Kumble came and brutally smashed the whole team single-handedly ending with bowling figures of 10/74.
Jumbo became the second bowler after Jim Laker to capture all ten wickets in an innings.
For many of us, it was an amazing delight to watch this spin legend doing something that no Indian has ever done. But to your surprise, there is an interesting story behind this record.
With 9 wickets in hand, Kumble needed just one more wicket to have a complete whitewash. Waqar Younis and Wasim Akram were present on the crease. The shrewd Waqar Younis came up with a well-planned idea to break Kumble’s dream run.
What was that idea?
Sehwag, being the Twitter King, shared the complete story and after reading it, you will realize that Kumble was destined to make history.
