Vivek Oberoi Shares A Meaningful Message With A Video Of Ganesha Statues Being Destroyed

Published on 12 September, 2017 at 4:23 pm By

Every year, Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated with a lot of fervor and fanfare in the country. Amidst all this, the Ganpati celebrations by Bollywood stars are the special center of attraction for the entire country. People bring home an idol of Lord Ganesha on this day and carry out the ritual of visarjan after 10 or 11 days. In Mumbai alone, more than 1,50,000 statues of Ganesha are immersed in water each year. Among the thousands of people who bring Ganesha home on Ganesh Chaturthi and later carry out their visarjan in water, there are a number of Bollywood stars as well. Every year, many of these stars also share pictures while worshiping Ganesha. But this year, one of these celebrities shared something really touching and environmentally significant.

We’re referring to Vivek Oberoi who has shared a heartbreaking video of Ganesha idols being thrown from a building into a water body. The actor posted the video on his Twitter page along with a beautiful message of switching to the use of eco-friendly Ganesha.

Here is what Vivek Oberoi tweeted:

This video shows the harsh reality of what happens to the idols after they are abandoned by people post-visarjan. Every year, thousands of Ganesha idols meet this destiny of being thrown in water mercilessly. The view is disheartening as well as eye-opening. It highlights the fact that now is the time to wake up to the call of the environment and start using eco-friendly idols. Some Bollywood actors such as Riteish Deshmukh have also pointed out the need to go environment-friendly with regard to Ganesha idols.

It is important apart from the environmental point of view as well since it is very disappointing to watch idols that were being worshiped until a few minutes ago now being thrown without any feelings. And hence, using environment-friendly idols of Ganesha is the need of the hour.
