It is not new to hear celebrities or rich people helping or coming to the rescue of poor yet talented people who live on performing in the streets of towns and cities. Yes, we have heard of such stories in the past as well. Well, here is a similar one, and this time, it is the people from the music fraternity who come to the rescue of a fellow musician. Music composer Vishal Dadlani and singer Neha Kakkar recently announced a donation of Rs. 1 lakh each to Keshav Lal, a talented musician who has been playing harmonium on the streets of Pune for over 30 years. And they won our hearts!
Keshav Lal was recently invited to the set of Indian Idol 10 where the reality show’s contestants and judges gave him an overwhelming standing ovation and paid him a memorable tribute.
He was accompanied by his wife, Soni Bai, on the show.
However, we wonder if Keshav Lal being invited to the set of Indian Idol was because of Bollywood singer and actor Mika Singh’s recent post on Twitter asking people to help find him and requesting all singing reality shows to help and call people like Keshav as guests on the show.
Mika Singh came across a video clip of Keshav Lal singing on the streets and shared it on his Twitter account. This is what the singer has written and posted:
I would also like to request all singing reality shows , like #DilHaiHindustani2 @StarPlus , #IndianIdol @SonyTV , #Saregama @ZeeTV , #risingstar @ColorsTV to please help and call these people as guests. https://t.co/38XP4ei05M

It is said that Keshav Lal has worked with award-winning filmmaker V Shantaram and composers Kalyanji-Anandji before he lost all his material possessions, forcing him to go live by playing harmonium and begging on the streets.
While the judges – Vishal Dadlani, Neha Kakkar, and Anu Malik – and all the contestants of the reality show gave him an overwhelming welcome and tribute, the former Bollywood musician went on to perform the song ‘Awaara Hoon’ on his old harmonium during the episode.
From being at the pinnacle of success to losing all his material possessions, it seems the musician has revealed that only music mattered to him and that staying loyal to one’s passion is what’s really important.
Meanwhile, announcing the donation, Vishal has said in a statement:
“It was our privilege to witness Keshav Lalji on the show. It is so wonderful to see a man so faithful to music throughout his life. He is an inspiration for all of us. He has taught us that one should never leave his passion, come what may. I will urge all my friends and people from the industry to try their best and help Keshav Lalji in the best possible way we can.”
Indeed Vishal and Neha have done an incredible thing for the musician. Meanwhile, here’s wishing Keshav Lal and his wife a long and healthy life in the days to come.
