Cricket fans had an amazing time witnessing two amazing IPL teams Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore facing each other on the ground. While one team had MS Dhoni, the other team got the privilege of having team India’s latest captain Virat Kohli. It was an interesting match in which the CSK performed incredibly well by chasing the total of 205 with ease.
But it was a day that belonged to Dhoni as he scored a whopping 70 runs in 34 balls. The CSK took just 19.4 overs to complete the target given by the RCB. While Dhoni got all the praises, Kohli had to face consequences for breaking a rule during the match.
Yes, you read that right! India’s run machine will be paying Rs 12 Lakh as fine for breaking the IPL code of conduct. He broke the rule related to slow-over-rate.
According to a press release by IPL:
“Since it was his first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Mr. Kohli was fined Rs 12 lakh.”
Teams use spin bowlers and fast bowlers to finish the overs fast and the penalty is imposed on players when the overs are bowled really slow. This news didn’t take much time to spread all over the internet and soon, Kohli fans started reacting to it. Here’s what they said:
Some so called experts said Kohli is previleged and never gets any fine! 2016 was the year and now! See https://t.co/fUK47qA9Oz
