The Board of Control for Cricket in Indian (BCCI) has asked the aspirants to apply for the post of Team India’s coach. With this invitation, it is clear that Anil Kumble hasn’t been given an extension to his services as the coach and this why fans are confused.
However, the reports are claiming that the tiff between Anil Kumble and Virat Kohli is the reason. It all began during the test series between India and Australia that took place in March. As per the BCCI officials, Kuldeep’s selection in the test series is the reason behind the cold war between Kohli and Kumble. It is being said that Kumble insisted on including Kuldeep in the 3rd match that took place in Ranchi, whereas Kohli was strictly against this suggestion. This got worse in the 4th match when Kohli was sitting because of some injury and Ajinkya had the charge for the Dharamsala tests match. Using the opportunity, Kumble included Kuldeep in the team without Kohli’s consent.
The Hindu quoted BCCI saying,
This may or may not be the reason. But we believe the people in the corridors of power have been told that Kumble is overbearing and doesn’t give freedom to the players. It’s sad that aspersions are cast on a legend of Indian cricket.
However, Kumble’s decision of including Kuldeep in the team turned out fruitful. The player played exceptionally well and took 4 wickets. Still, the reports are clear that Kumble’s tenure as the coach is going to end and no extension will be given to his services.
