Vibhor Gupta is very likely to be the youngest student to join IIT-Kanpur this year. He is only 16 years old.
He got seventh rank in the IIT-Kanpur zone and was second Kanpur topper in JEE Advanced.
Though Vibhor’s family is native of Auraiya, his father got him admitted in an education centre in Kanpur to ensure he gets good education.
“He used to stay in a rented room near school and prepare for JEE Advanced. He hardly had time to do anything except studies,” Vibhor’s father Lav Kumar told TOI. He further told that he will turn 17 on August 2 this year.
Vibhor opted for IIT-K as he believes the computer science and engineering department of IIT-K is the best there.
In 2010, 14-year-old Sahal Kaushik was the youngest entrant in IIT-K. He had joined MSc physics. Sahal was the topper of Delhi JEE zone and had an All India rank of 33.
