After being listed as India’s one of the filthiest city, Varanasi is now all geared up to become ‘Smart City’ with an elaborate ‘Smart-Kashi’ plan.
The plan has been framed with consultation from experts from Department for International Development, Government of United Kingdom and IIT, BHU. The panel blamed city’s ageing and old school profile reluctant to changes as a major problem.
PM Modi’s constituency will have pedestrian and ‘Divyang’ friendly streets, rejuvenated temples and ghats, a Night Bazaar at Assi Ghat and light and sound shows.
Also, all historical and popular sites will get interactive panels and digital signage with interactive maps.
Besides that, the city will have public bicycle sharing service, green rooftops on all schools and government buildings amongst other things.
New technologies will be used to enhance the lives of locals there while keeping the traditional aspect alive.
