China and USA are always in some quarrel with each other. The tariffs, restrictions, and difference in ideologies to acquire power, make these two countries hot topics of debates. Recently On December 1, Huawei Technologies Co.’s chief financial officer Meng Wanzhou was detained in Canada. The technological giant is China-based and the Canada arrest was on the behalf of United States. This has again created a diplomatic tussle (China vs US) between the two powerful countries.
Wanzhou was arrested on the ground of Huawei selling gear to Iran despite a ban by the US on exports to the region. Wanzhou was released later on bail but the detention’s effects are still burning.
USA VS China
The arrest has made China furious and reportedly many companies in China are aggressively promoting the use of Chinese brands and employees using iPhones and apple products are discouraged to continue using them.
Reportedly a textile firm in China even sent a notice to its employees saying that those who use iPhones might not receive promotions or incentives. The notice clearly stated that workers using homegrown brands would be preferred for promotions.
The manager of a Chinese firm also said that the company is promoting the Huawei brand by purchasing products worth 20,000 yuan ($2,908 approx) for its management teams and clients. Not only this but the company is also providing about 20-50 percent subsidy to employees who purchase a Huawei handset.
The brand has denied the allegations but reports are floating of the tussle between the countries resulting in such notices. It is now affecting the employees who are feeling burdened by such orders. What do you think?
