Being the wife of an army personnel could be really hard given the long-term separations the couple has to experience over a long period of time. That’s why it is also said that the military life is a huge barrier to a successful marriage. Being away from family – sometimes separated by thousands of miles – is certainly the biggest sacrifice that army personnel have to make.
It is no surprise that many a time they have to miss important milestone in their lives: be it weddings, births, or funerals.
Something similar happened with Skyler Cooper who was deployed in Kuwait with the U.S. Army. While Skyler was overseas, his wife Cydney Cooper went into labour earlier than expected, and gave birth to twins in January. The twin girls were born on January 24.
The 27-year-old mother was spending time with her premature twin babies at a hospital in Topeka, Kansas, before a nurse gave her surprise of a lifetime. As Cydney was replying back to messages from Skyler, his husband slipped into the room — with flowers and balloons.
A video that has now gone viral shows Cydney looking at him and then bursting into tears. Watch the video here:
Cydney wrote on Facebook, sharing a video of her husband’s surprise:
“1 year of crazy, 1000s of miles, 1 solo pregnancy and delivery, 48392 Skype calls, some superheros, a few plane rides, 12 NICU days, tons of help from family and friends, and many tears later…. A soldier came home.”
Here’s how netizens reacted:
According to Cydney, Skyler may have missed their births but he’s home for good now.
According to Cydney, her husband, who had been serving in Kuwait, had not even seen her pregnant with the twins. Skyler’s arrival was also a big surprise for the couple’s 1- and 3-year-old sons.
