Updated on 3 November, 2016 at 6:07 pm By

UP Congress general secretary Umesh Pandit said that Varun Gandhi has the potential to revive the party in the state and should be roped in for the 2017 Assembly polls.

It is reported that other Congressmen are discussing the same but, privately.

Making a public plea, Pandit said:

“Varun Gandhi is a member of the Nehru-Gandhi family and the son of Sanjay Gandhi. Those who had quit the Congress after attacking the Nehru-Gandhi family, returned and got positions. Varun had not said a single word against the family.”

Varun Gandhi, BJP MP from Sultanpur, is said to have a good equation with his cousin Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

As of now, he has been isolated in his own party, and has been not getting adequate support from the top leadership.

Further, Pandit said that he would raise this point at the meeting called by AICC general secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad in Lucknow.
