In a controversial poster that went viral on social media, newly appointed president of Uttar Pradesh BJP Keshav Prasad Maurya, was depicted as Lord Krishna.
The poster shows Uttar Pradesh as a helpless woman and displays leaders like BSP supremo Mayawati, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, UP minister Azam Khan, chief minister Akhilesh Yadav, and AIMM MP Asaduddin Owaisi indulged in the state’s chirharan (stripping).
The evil forces described in the poster are corruption, poverty and unemployment, communalism, goonda raj, and treason.
Maurya is shown as Krishna with the ‘Sudarshan Chakra’ in his hand.
However, the BJP has distanced itself with the poster saying that the party has nothing to do with the poster.
It has a tag line -‘Rakshamam Keshah’ (Save me Keshav) and said “Kaliyug mein Keshav (Krishna) updesh hi nahin dete Ranbhoomi mein yudh bhi karte hain” (In Kaliyuga Krishna not only preaches but also fights in the battlefield).
The poster is issued by Rupesh Pandey, whose image appears at the bottom.
Pandey, who issued the poster, said that he chose this way to welcome the new president on his first visit to the city.
