Even as the Indian and Australian cricket teams get ready for the crucial 3rd Test match in Ranchi, former Australian fast bowler, Rodney Hogg has come out and said that India captain Virat Kohli has started to panic.
While talking to foxsport.com.au Hogg said that there is pressure on under-performing Kohli and that this pressure will force him to put his own needs ahead of his team’s in the upcoming 3rd Test match.
Further, the pitch prepared for Ranchi Test is already being described as “the worst pitch of the series so far”, but Hogg feels that Kohli would have demanded the Ranchi curators to keep enough on the pitch for batsmen.
Hogg feels that a batting pitch will make Kohli feel comfortable at the crease, and as he is “a megastar” and his average in the last two Tests matches have gone below 50 he will make sure that the pitch has enough for batsmen.
“The lights go off when a batsman’s average goes below 50. They get paranoid. All the great batsmen, Michael Clarke ended up under 50, Steve Waugh just went under 50 near the end. He (Kohli) is starting to panic.”
Hogg thus feels, that despite many being unkind about the Ranchi pitch, Kohli would personally never want that to be the case, and thus it would be “batsman-friendly” pitch.
“You will get a good batting wicket.”
