Do you remember Lage Raho Munnabhai where Sanjay Dutt played the role of a Radio presenter who saved the life of a suicidal person? Munnabhai made sure that the caller believes in him and forgets the problems. In real life, a UK radio presenter was in the same situation as Munnabhai when he received a call on a live radio show he was hosting.
Popular UK radio presenter Lain Lee has been open about his mental issues and understands the complications a person goes through. While he was on air a caller Chris called him and revealed that he is suicidal. Lee did something which saved the caller’s life. Naturally, netizens are showering him with praises.
The caller told Lee that he had taken an overdose of pills to end his life but Lee made sure that he doesn’t. Lee was on call for 30 minutes talking to Chris finding about his exact location. In the meantime, the program producer contacted the emergency services. He told Chris:
“Tell you what, Chris – I don’t want you to die tonight. I need to know what street you’re on. I want you to get through tonight and chat to me tomorrow when you haven’t got a load of drugs in you. I don’t want you to die tonight because I love you.”
The video of the entire incident is going viral. Here is the video for you:
Later, Lee was informed that Chris was saved. Lee got emotional and burst into tears after he hung up the call. Lee posted about the incident on Twitter.
Tonight we took a call from a man who had taken an overdose. He was lying in a street in Plymouth, dying. We managed to keep him online, get a description of what he looked like and was wearing, work out where he was and send an ambulance and police to him. Kept him on the phone

Iain, you’re an absolute gem. I hope, in your own darkest moments, that you remember what you did to help this lost soul, and manage to pull yourself out of how you feel. You have saved a life. X

I was tense for you on that call. But you and Kath handled it magnificently. A clunky gear change indeed, but it had real drama and tension. But that you probably saved his life is testament to your character and how great your radio show is. Hope Christmas is more restful.
