Riding a cab while going back home or running errands and even for an outstation trip has become very common today. But, what about the safety of the passengers travelling in the cab? Many companies promise to deliver outstanding customer satisfaction and comfort, but a certain series of incidences have made us think over whether the tall claims promised by them really mean something or not. Over the past few years, we have heard many cases about passengers complaining about the behaviour of drivers, molestation and unprofessional approach. However, the latest incident is everything more than a complaint. An Uber cab burnt down to ashes!
The disturbing event took place on the night of January 13, 2019. Pallavi Singh, who boarded a Uber cab that night went through a traumatic experience when the car brunt down to ashes in front of her.
As per Pallavi, she sensed a foul smell coming from within the car, she initially ignored, but then noticed smoke oozing out of the AC Duct. She informed the driver, but he left her complaint unattended.
Later, the passing cars alarmed the driver that there was a spark coming from the car and then he made a move to stop the car and Pallavi and the driver moved out. A few seconds later, she saw the car burning and all her belongings also went down the ashes. Look at the horrifying video:

@uber_india A word of caution to all Uber users out there, who believe their safety is being taken care of with utmost sincerity. Last night, on my trip back home, I sensed a burning smell inside the car. At first my limited imagination made me think that it’s coming from the outside. Once the car drove up the TTK road fly over, I saw smoke coming out from the foot area and possibly the AC ducts. To my shock, the driver had not spotted it nor taken any effort to warn me about it. I warned him and asked him what was going on. Luckily, people from other cars around told us to pull over, as they had seen sparks from under. We stopped and exited the car, only to see it burn down to ashes, and along with it my bag containing my IDs, Dailies and Wallet. I came to know that only the metal skeleton of the seats remained. It was undoubtedly the scariest moment of my life. I cannot get that image out of my head. And it’s been over 12 hours since this happened and I wonder if Uber even knows this happened or have absolutely nothing to say to me. This is heights of carelessness, ignorance and utter lack of interest in their customers. Thanks Uber. FYI, I saved your driver’s life last night. @uber_india
This Uber cab burnt has raised a lot of questions. This also make us question whether cab agencies like Uber and Ola on how they have been carrying the maintenance of their cars on a regular basis or they just have a number of cars running on the streets posing a threat to the life of passengers.
