Two Amlas In South Africa Cricket Team Confuses Spectators and Bangladesh Bowlers

As the cricketing fraternity on Thursday settled down to watch an exciting T20 International match between South Africa and Bangladesh, played in Bloemfontein, South Africa, something uncanny happened that took the spectators and the Bangladesh bowlers by surprise!

Proteas skipper JP Duminy won the toss and chose to bat first. But what happened thereafter shocked everyone!

As opener a batsman bearing the name Amla on his shirt came out to open the innings. He was accompanied by the other opener, who was the well known Hashim Amla, himself!

That stumped the entire stadium. However, it turned out that it was not Hashim Amla but swashbuckling opener Quinton de Kock, who had borrowed Hashim Amla’s jersey to step out onto the pitch!

For a while the entire audience, including a large number of views watching the game on television were left confused at seeing two Amlas walking onto the ground. Thankfully, the commentators were swift in clearing the confusion, identifying the other Amla as de Kock.

According to reports, Kock lost his jersey right before the match was to be played, and was left with no choice but to borrow his colleague’s jersey. Being of the same size, it was Amla’s shirt that fitted him the best.

Getting back to the match, the Proteas gained an easy win, beating Bangladesh by 20 runs. With the South African team being up 1-0 in the series, the hosts are definitely looking to beat the visiting team at the final T20 on Sunday.
