Twitterati Slams Abhijeet For Insulting A Retired Lt General Over ‘Human Shield’ Row

A couple of days ago, a video showing a man tied to a military vehicle in Kashmir went viral. While a section supported the Indian Army’s action, many criticized the same on ethical grounds.



Among those who criticized the army action was retired Lieutenant General H.S. Panag. The former GOC-in-C of the Northern Command and Central Command tweeted this:


A while later he reiterated his stand with another tweet in which he endorsed the view that the Indian Army’s action was “illegal”:


The Lt Gen was both praised and slammed by two different sections of Twitterati for his criticism of the same institution of which he was a part.

But singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya went further in his criticism and posted this:


Of course, Abhijeet’s deplorable comment against a decorated veteran of the Indian Army did not go down well with the right thinking populace.


The retired army officer himself responded with a smartly-worded comment.


Abhijeet was also slammed by former Supreme Court judge Markandey Katju. This is what Justice Katju tweeted:


Of course, as Twitterati pointed out, disagreeing with a view is one thing but how one disagrees is more important.
