Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s wedding was an all-out fairy tale wedding, completed with A-listers from Hollywood, a jaw-dropping church, perfect English weather and the cutest bridesmaids. The wedding was a ‘game changer’ of sorts in many ways, with a merging of cultures and families.
Priyanka Chopra, the Bollywood diva who has made her mark in Hollywood with stints in Quantico and Baywatch, was watched her longtime friend Meghan become the Duchess of Sussex. The friends first met at an annual Women in Television dinner and have bonded ever since.
Incredibly supportive of Meghan’s relationship with Harry, Chopra was delighted to part of their fairy tale wedding and flew to London for the same. She posted her excitement at her friend’s wedding with several Instagram posts, like this one:
Priyanka was just one of the celebrities to have joined the list of A-listers who descended for the afternoon wedding, like George Clooney, David Beckham, Elton John etc, among many others.
For the main event, Priyanka dazzled in a formal lavender suit by acclaimed designer Viviennie Westwood, complete with a big hat and styled by Mimi Cuttrell.
Priyanka shared this Instagram post with the “Bridal Crew” during the course of the event:
Shortly after the most ‘modern royal wedding’ in recent times, Chopra wished good friend Meghan with this heart-warming post and shared her thoughts in this very “socially moving” message:
However, Priyanka was slammed by a Twitter user by the name @Jayajaitly who accused her of dressing like a British aristocrat and failing to look ‘Indian’ at the royal wedding. Read her tweet:
How sad an Indian actor attending the royal wedding in UK should dress like a British aristocrat at Ascot rather than represent a free and independent India in a beautiful Sari. pic.twitter.com/zXF9zpCbMq
— Jaya Jaitly (@Jayajaitly) May 20, 2018
This tweet back stabbed Jaya herself when Twitterates came out in support of Piggy Chops and slammed her ‘aunty-type’ views on such a occasion. They expressed their content with Priyanka who wore formals as per the ‘wedding dress code’ and looked great instead.
Have a look at the reactions this ‘aunty’ received after her displeasure was counter-attacked by Tweeple:
she is not there to represent, she’s attending her friend’s wedding. make your daughter wear saari. actually don’t. let her wear whatever she wants

How does it matter to you what she does in her personal life? Too much free time at hand?

Clearly not a free India if she’s not free to wear what she wants & have people judge her choice. Let’s not make everything an issue when it doesn’t need to be! #unfaircriticism

How does wearing saree make you more of an Indian? What a wasteful argument.. Women like you makes it difficult for other women to flourish because the only weapon weapon is saree & sanskaar…
intellect, independent, empowered is the new attire, not saree!!!— Poonam Dhiman (@_PD_____) May 20, 2018
She was the only indian in #RoyalWedding2018 I guess , you should be proud of her but aunties like you only criticize.
— Aditii🎀 (@Sassy_Soul_) May 20, 2018
True that! An Indian auntie will always want the young girls to be covered in sarees. Makes no sense absolutely
— Dhanashri Kadam (@themumbaigirl) May 21, 2018
@priyankachopra was representing not india in some official event. She was there for her friend. Her choice, calm down
— Thinking indian (@IndiaThinking) May 20, 2018
There is a dress code😴and y’all are always the first people to drag her. But now you want her to represent your country cause it’s the royal wedding ?lol no. She is there for a friend not to wear whatever y’all want her to wear
— ały🕊 (@IAlyazya_) May 20, 2018
There was indeed a dress code..it was on the invitation card. Also, she wasnt representing India. Meghan and Priyanka are friends. She went to a friends wedding.

Following her appearance at the main wedding, she attended the invite-only dinner at Frogmore House. For that evening reception, Chopra wore this sparkly Dior gown and smokey makeup, looking totally ravishing!
This aunty got the brunt of Tweeple when she slammed Priyanka and will remember it next time she targets any celebrity. What did you think of Priyanka’s dress at the royal wedding? Tell us in the comments.
