On August 19, Khanna took to twitter to post a photograph of a man taking a dump on a Mumbai beach while she was on her routine morning run, with a very interesting caption.

This tweet came about a month after Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis tweeted that Mumbai had become open-defecation free.
Great news for Mumbai !
Congratulations to all Mumbaikars!
Mumbai becomes Open Defacation Free (ODF).
Good job BMC and Shri Ajoy Mehta ! pic.twitter.com/WfIQJQmeSsAdvertisement

However, the tweeple were not satisfied with Twinkle Khanna’s tweet and took to the job of correcting her.
Asking her to remove the photo.
You are willfully tweeting an unacceptable image because he is a man n would have not done so if this was a woman. Please remove the photo.

Someone added that she should make a public apology for this tweet.
Y only remove pic. A public apology should also be made for playing with dignity of men.. ppl stoop so low to promote films @akshaykumar

Dignity of men is also important.
But point is… had this been a woman, would you click pic and upload on social? If dignity of women is important then why not men?

A user shamed her for promoting her husband’s movie.
Making mockery of men & his poverty is so easy. Shame on the person who took this pic & public figure for sharing it 4 promoting a film.

Well, it wasn’t only Khanna who was trolled for her tweet. Fadnavis, too, was also slammed by Twitterati for his “open-defecation free” tweet.
A user asked the CM to look around.

Asking the CM to stop the Fekugiri.
What nonsense !
Daily we can see lot of people defacating on railway tracks.
Stop #Feku giri 🙏

Telling him the spots.
Lol, Dear CM just catch a CST to Karjat local in the morning and remove all your doubts like Mumbai has become open defacation free.😬

Well, we believe that public must become more conscious of their surroundings and their health.
