The best aspect of Johnny Depp’s interpretation of Gilbert Grape is the way he showcases the emotions of anguish and dissatisfaction as the older brother of a mentally challenged DiCaprio. The movie was about a director who was famous for his lackluster film making skills and Depp performed it beautifully and Burton painted the canvas with a praiseworthy depiction. Ed Wood was a man who truly loved the idea of making films, now he might have been awful at that, but that love comes across in Depp’s characterization.
