10. Department of Fine Arts, Assam University
The Department of Fine Arts in Assam University was established in the year 1996. It offers a 4-year BVA degree course in Applied Arts, Painting and Sculpture, a first in the North-Eastern region. Also offered is the doctoral course or Ph. D. of research work. A 2-year MVA course is also offered. Faculty in this department consists of eminent members in this field making it the only option in the North-East.
9. Government College of Art and Craft, Orissa
It is a leading Visual Arts college in Orissa. The college offers you again a 4-year integrated Bachelor Degree course. Here too, the 1st year is known as the foundation Course and the next three years are the specialization course. The subjects offered are more or less the same as in other colleges with slight changes in nomenclature. Candidates who are considered eligible will be called for an admission test based on which the selection will be made. Hostel facilities are also available.
8. B.K. College of Arts and Crafts, Bhubaneshwar
Situated in Bhubaneswar, this college functions under the administrative control of the Department of Culture, Government of Orissa. The college offers a 4-year BA degree, which follows an integrated and advanced training in the Visual Arts. The college has the departments of Painting (both Western and Indian style), Applied Art, Print Making, Pottery and Ceramics, Sculpture, Art History and Aesthetics. The courses are divided into Foundation and Specialization courses. Selection of candidates is decided by a Selection Board of the college and the short listed students are then called for an admission test.

7. National Institute of Film and Fine Arts, Kolkata
NIFFA is a member of the National Film Archives (Pune), Government of India and is affiliated to the Federation of the Film Societies of India. It provides a wide range of courses starting from Film Direction, Acting, Dance, Animation to name only a few. Besides degree courses, diploma courses are available too. Selection of candidates is based on the result of an aptitude test and Interview. Dance as a subject is offered in both degree as well as diploma courses.
6. College of Visual Arts, Kolkata
A degree college for Visual arts, it is affiliated to the Kala Sangit Vishwavidyalaya, Khairagarh, Chattisgarh. The four-year BFA degree course offers you subjects like Painting, Graphics (Print Making), Sculpture (3 dimension) and Applied Art (2 dimension). A maximum number of 30 students are taken each year. The college has rented nearby houses which serve as accommodation of students who come from outside Kolkata, especially girls.

5. Bengal Fine Arts College, Kolkata
Situated in the district of North 24 Parganas, this college only provides the subjects in Fine arts unlike Visva Bharati which has other subjects as well. You have options in degree courses like Painting, Sculpture, Vocal Classical, Tabla and Kathak Dance. Diploma courses are also offered.
4. The Indian College of Arts and Draftsmanship, Kolkata
This college is affiliated under the Rabindra Bharati University. The integrated course of Bachelor of Arts (Fine arts) is designed for 4 years with the 1st year being the Foundation course and the next 3 years being the specialization course. Subjects offered are Painting, Applied Art, Graphic Art (Print Making) and Sculpture. Selection of students is initially made on the basis of a practical and written test, but the final selection is based on the oral examination.
3. Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata
On the 8th of May 1962, Rabindra Bharati University was established under the Rabindra Bharati Act which was to mark the birth centenary of Rabindranath Tagore. It is a premiere institute of Fine Arts. The Faculty of Fine arts offers 3-year BA degree, BA special 2-years degree, MA and Ph. D. in the fields of Dance, Drama, Instrumental Music and Percussion, Rabindra Sangeet and Vocal Music. The Faculty of Visual Arts offers BFA, MFA and Ph. D. in Applied Arts, Graphics, History of Art, Painting and Sculpture. You also have a Master Degree course in Museology. Diploma courses are also available in these subjects. Hostel facilities are abundant, hence students from outside do not face problems. Scholarships and Fellowships are also given.
2. Government College of Art and Craft, Kolkata
This is the oldest art institution in India and is a over 150 years old. It has eight art departments each offering a specialization in Painting, Indian Style Painting, Modelling and Sculpture, Graphic Design/Applied Art, Textile Design, Ceramic Art and Pottery, Wood and Leather Design and Print Making. The 4-year BFA degree course is divided into a 1-year foundation course and 3 years of specialization course. A 2-year special MFA course can also be opted for. Ph. D. is also offered in many subjects. Abanindranath Tagore, the famous painter of the Tagore family was the Vice Principal of this college for a long time. Undoubtedly the best in the region, Visva Bharati University is among the finest in the country. Situated in Bolpur, Shantiniketan, the University was founded by Rabindranath Tagore to enhance learning in all fields – science as well as arts.
