The big bad world of Hollywood is a world of its own where relationships are build in the day and broken by the night. Whatever be the status of the relations, we love them or hate them but, yes, we cannot ignore them. The new-age couples have redefined stardom itself. The media is constantly hunting for their info and thus we have the ever-so-strange world standing proud. Topyaps follows a few such couples who are individually strong and collectively stronger for the media and maybe for our own tastes.
10. Johnny Depp & Vanessa Paradis:
Captain jack Sparrow may not be anywhere close to a family-man image but in real life Johnny Depp cares for the family he has. Though, he has remained unmarried since his divorce with Lori-Anne Allison in 1985, he is in a steady relationship with Vanessa Paradis (French singer, model & actress) since 1995. The couple has two children and enjoys most of their time in Europe. Guess the Captain likes those places who send their navies to hunt him down in his movies.
9. Gwen Stefani & Gavin Rossdale:
Gwen has an Indian connection. She had previously dated Tony Kanal of the band No-Doubt in which Gwen was a singer and he a bassist. They split and Gavin entered Gwen’s life. They married in 2002 after being together since 1995. The ranking would have been better if the India connection had been complete.
8. Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony:
After a list of scandalous relationship Jennifer Lopez, nicknamed J’Lo, seems to have found some peace in Puerto Rican singer Marc Anthony. They are parents to twins Emme Maribel Muñiz and Maximillian David Muñiz (born February 22, 2008). People paid $6 million for the first photos of the twins. This shows how in-demand they are.
7. Jada Pinkett Smith & Will Smith:
One family that remains like a family in the bad world of Hollywood has to be the Smith family. In April 2007, Newsweek called Will Smith the ‘Most Powerful Actor on the Planet’. That is indeed an honor worth fighting for. Smith married actress Jada-Pinkett in 1997 and together they have two children, Jayden and Willow. Jada is the step-mother to Willar ‘Trey’ Smith, Will’s son from a previous marriage. The couple keeps itself busy with charity work and hosted the December 11, 2009 Nobel Peace Prize ceremony in Norway when Obama won the award.
6. Jessica Biel & Justin Timberlake:
Timberlake recently starred in the golden Globe winning movie ‘The Social Network’. To be honest, it seems his network of wooing beautiful women might give Hugh Hefner a run for his money. After being romantically linked to everyone from Britney Spears to Cameron Diaz, Justin entered into a relationship with actress Jessica Biel in 2007. Biel is a successful actress and ‘occasional’ singer and Timberlake is a famous singer trying to make a name in acting. Perhaps they are tutoring each other and may specifically say so if the media questions them.
When Destiny’s Child singer Beyonce Knowles married rapper Jay-Z on April 4, 2008, many a hearts were shattered for sure. Beyonce—known for her sensational singing prowess—has spun a legacy around her inspiring singers like Rihanna to find a place under the sun. Knowles and Jay-Z were listed as the most powerful couple for Time magazine’s 100 most influential people of 2006. In January 2009, Forbes ranked them as Hollywood’s top-earning couple, with a combined total of $162 million. They also made it to the top of the list the following year, with a combined total of $122 million between June 2008 and June 2009. Destiny Fulfilled….
4. Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher:
‘Age is no factor when thou art in love’. Hollywood knows this best. Here, an octogenarian may marry a twenty something. However, the wedding of Ashton and Demi grabbed eyeballs. Ashton is 15 years her junior. They married in the 2005; five years after Moore divorced Bruce Willis and are going strong.
3. Eva Longoria and Tony Parker:
The strange world of Hollywood has a never ending cycle of marriages and divorces. Longoria and Parker too fall inside the circumference created by that cycle. Touted as one of the most powerful couples of Hollywood, the couple climbed the charts of popularity like never before. Yes, Eva was—and still is – the famous poster girl of magazines and Parker is ‘fire-with-a-ball’ on basketball courts, but it seems the fame and the fire has just fizzled out. They married on July 6, 2007 and have filed for divorce in the month of November 2010.
2. Gisele Bundchen & Tom Brady:
When Elle magazine surveyed the leading stylists across US asking them to name a star who they thought had the best hair, more than 50 per cent gave Gisele Bundchen the title of Best Hair in Hollywood. The 16th richest woman in entertainment world and the highest paid model according to Forbes married NFL quarterback Tom Brady on February 26, 2009. The marriage (a second for Brady) is nothing less than power packed.
1. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie:
Who else were you thinking could take the top spot? This super celebrity couple—who are yet unmarried—gave birth to the media obsession of giving a collective name to couples. Thus came the word ‘Brangelina’. Whatever they do becomes news. We won’t be surprised to if we hear something like ‘Jolie sneezed today’ from the papers. Would we?
