2015, Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) topper Tina Dabi, has been allocated to serve in Rajasthan cadre and not Haryana, which was her first choice.
Besides Dabi, UPSC’s second and third rank holder – Athar Aamir Ul Shafi Khan and Jasmeet Singh Sandhu have also been allocated to Rajasthan cadre of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS).
Dabi had expressed her desire to be posted in Haryana as she wanted to focus on women’s empowerment in the state.
She had said:
While Dabi had focused on Haryana to help achieve gender equality, she can also make her mark in Rajasthan as sex ratio is below national average there as well.
It must be noted that high rank in UPSC examination doesn’t ensure that one gets the civil service of their choice.
Allocation of the cadre is a complex process that depends not just on the candidate’s rank, but also on vacancies, quotas and whether the candidate hails from the same state.
