It was year 1990, when some of the top actors in the industry were competing for the black lady, Filmfare was then a glorious affair. In the best actor category, it was not only a clash of big names in Bollywood, but a candidacy about characters larger than life.
Aamir Khan in ‘Raakh’, Anil Kapoor in ‘Eeshwar’, Salman Khan in ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’, Rishi Kapoor in ‘Chandni’ and Jackie Shroff in ‘Parinda’ made it completely difficult for the jury to make their decision, the award was bagged by Jackie Shroff for his brilliant acting in the film.
What we entirely missed was that one moment, when Jackie got onto the stage for receiving his award and carried a small baby in his arms. The baby was none other than his son Tiger Shroff. Have a look at the evergreen picture!
Directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, ‘Parinda’ is a story of two brothers who are caught at different sides of a gang war. A combination of good story-telling, crisp screenplay and flawless direction, the movie was a big commercial success and bought recognition for the actor himself. The emotional ferocity in the protagonist’s character, gave an entirely new turn to a script which by then was much repeated on the silver screen.
Throughout the award ceremony, Tiger, then a few months old baby was seen in his father’s arms. Who thought, that he might become the lucky charm for for his father, especially when he won the award.
