‘Thugs of Hindostan’ is an upcoming action-adventure film based on Philip Meadows Taylor’s 1839 novel. Titled ‘Confessions of a Thug’, the novel is based on the thug culture that persisted in British ruled India. The novel is one of the best selling and most popular crime fiction work from the 19th century. Actor Aamir Khan is currently busy shooting for the movie which also stars actor Amitabh Bachchan. Others actors who are also a part of the movie are Katrina Kaif, Fatima Sana Sheikh, and Ronit Roy.

‘Thugs of Hindostan’ is one of the most expensive movies ever under Yash Raj banner, next only to ‘Tiger Zinda Hai‘. The stated production budget for the movie is somewhere around Rs 250 crore.

Interestingly, while Aamir Khan is playing the most prominent character, he was not the first choice. The actor whom the filmmakers initially wanted to cast in the movie was Hrithik Roshan. But unfortunately, Roshan could not be a part of the movie.

While some reports suggest that at the time Roshan was busy shooting for his movie ‘Kaabil‘. And this why he could not take up ‘Thugs of Hindostan’. But some other reports that suggest that it was the actors asking price which made the makers decide against casting him.

As per reports, that Roshan asked for a whopping Rs 60 crore for the movie. The makers found it to be too much and hence asked Aamir Khan to star in the movie instead.

Whatever the reason was, Hrithik Roshan did miss out on this huge opportunity. ‘Thugs of Hindostan‘ is predicted to break the records of super hit movie ‘Baahubali‘. A major chunk of the movie is being shot in Malta, which is also the shooting location for the hit show ‘Game of Thrones’.
