Indian traffic police are always trying out new ways of promoting road safety. Few years back, traffic police in Hyderabad distributed chocolates to those who were wearing helmets. There is also another cop in Delhi who buys helmets from his own money to gift to those who are riding without one. In short, it won’t be wrong to say that the police are trying hard to create a better environment. However, what happens when one of them breaks the law? Should he be booked for riding without a helmet?
A similar incident took place in Khar (Mumbai) that left everyone in splits. Wondering what happened? Why don’t you check out the video!

Yes, a policeman was riding a bike without wearing a helmet when three guys intervened. They were quite adamant that they will not let him drive away. One of the guys even took away the keys. They finally gave in when the policemen wore the helmet. Listening keenly you can hear one of the guys accusing the police of issuing challan to them. Further, they also said bahut loote ho aap log humein (You have looted us a lot).
The netizens were quick to react and here are their reactions:

This seemingly funny video of the traffic police, however, had a serious consequence. The three people who were involved in the ruffle with the cop were arrested. Identified as constable Padarinath Ramu Eldar, the cop went back to Nirmal Nagar police station and filed a complaint against the guys. According to an officer of the station, the official version states:
‘The constable was accosted by three youngsters near Prajakta Society in Bandra East. The trio snatched his keys, abused him in public and forced him to wear a helmet before letting him go.’
Was the police right to arrest the three guys? After all, the cop was riding without a helmet. Or, do you support the administration? Why don’t you share your thoughts with us in the comments?
