Actor Salman Khan enjoys huge fan following across the vast spectrum of Indian society. For Khan’s fans, every one of his movies is a gem. His latest movie ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ is all set to touch the Rs 300 crore mark. The film, which released on December 22 with packed houses, continues its ‘steady run’ at the box office.
Despite an illustrious career in Bollywood, Salman Khan has often found himself in the centre of many a controversy. In 1998, the actor ran into trouble he was booked in four cases regarding poaching of blackbuck and chinkara. During the shooting of ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain,’ he along with Sonali Bendre and Saif Ali Khan, took a break from the shooting near Jodhpur to allegedly go hunting. Salman was accused of poaching of two endangered black bucks in village Kankani in Jodhpur on 1-2 October, 1998.
The actor has been acquitted in the two chinkara poaching cases and the arms act by trial courts. The appeals in the chinkara case are in the Supreme Court now. The blackbuck poaching is the only case at the final stage of trial. On January 4, Salman Khan attended a hearing in the poaching case in Jodhpur. During the final arguments of the defence, the actor came to the court along with his bodyguard Shera after being summoned.
At the same time, gangster Lawrence Bishnoi too appeared for one of his hearings at the Jodhpur Court, and in his interaction with the media issued a death threat to Salman Khan, saying the Bollywood actor will be killed in Jodhpur.
The gangster has claimed that he had been framed in false cases.
He told media persons while being taken to a Jodhpur court in police security:
“I have not done anything till now, the police have been framing me unnecessarily. Now, if police want me to do some major crime, I shall kill Salman Khan and that too in Jodhpur… Then he will come to know about our real identity.”
The goon is notorious in North India with more than 20 cases of snatching, extortion, carjacking and theft registered against him in Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan.
While Bishnoi has no personal grievance against the superstar, his death threat is being linked with the black buck killing case. The gangster is affiliated with the Bishnoi community which considers Khan as a “villain.”
