The Accidental Prime Minister is a Bollywood movie which is running into one trouble after another. For the uninitiated, the movie is a biographical political drama based on a book by Sanjaya Baru. Sanjaya was the media advisor to former PM Manmohan Singh. The trailer of the movie was released on December 27, 2018. Ever since the trailer came out, the movie is causing some major ripples in the Indian political scene.
A sea of Bollywood celebs and political figures are condemning the movie for its content. And now, someone has taken the issue a step further by filing charges against the movie makers and actors.
Yes, it’s true! As per reports, a complaint has been filed against the movie’s team in Muzaffarpur district of Bihar. Advocate Sudhir Kumar Ojha made a petition before the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s court there. Those named in the complaint are actors Anupam Kher, Akshaye Khanna, and many others. Also implicated in the petition is the movie’s director Vijay Ratnakar Gutte.
Ojha apparently felt ‘hurt’ on viewing the movie’s promos and this led him to file the complaint. Moreover, the advocate feels that The Accidental Prime Minister depicts many Indian political leaders in poor light. Some of these leaders are Lalu Prasad Yadav, BSP chief Mayawati, and former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
In addition, Ojha also believes the movie will distort the country’s image and that of its political leaders. As a result, he filed the petition under IPC Sections- 295, 153, 153A, 293, 504 and 120B. These sections imply the intent to insult a religion, promoting enmity between different groups, the sale of obscene objects and more. Check out the trailer of The Accidental Prime Minister:
Naturally, the netizens were quick to react to this news. While some supported it, others were quick to defend the film:

The last paragraph in the article is the main focus, while the name of former PM @_ManmohanSingh is being used to grab the attention of people.
But the intention is pretty clear to common people.
An illogical move…

Meanwhile, the movie is all set to release on January 11, 2019. However, we are still to know the outcome of the petition hearing. What do you think will happen? Will the movie release on the set date? Or not? Let us know in the comments below.
