The right-arm fast bowler Mohammed Siraj made his One Day International debut against Australia in Adelaide during the 2nd ODI. The 24-year-old Hyderabad pacer was called into the ODI squad for the Australia series as a replacement for Jasprit Bumrah. For India the cricketer has made three T20I appearances back in November of 2017 against New Zealand. Though he hasn’t performed exceptionally well for the Indian team (three wickets for an average of 49.33 and an economy rate of 12.33), he has been good on the domestic turf.
However, he has been on the receiving end for conceding 76 runs on his debut, without picking a single wicket in his ten-over quota.
The poor bowling performance by the Hyderabad seamer has made Twitterati furious, with some of them feeling him as a burden. One user even advised the BCCI to send him to Koffee With Karan show.
Here’s how Twitterati reacted:
Well said- by the way this guy also prooved to be out of even belowt average before- selection committee is so optimistic for him😂

Team India selection@klrahul11: repeatedly failed. Was selected repeatedly @hardikpandya7: another flopstar, was selected repeatedly.
Mohammed Siraj: 3 t20s, failed in all 3 occasions. Economy was more than 9. Still got the cap for ODIs…
This is team India @imVkohli

Mediocre bowling by Siraj. How about Nagarkoti/Mavi/Roosh/? Why not U19 bowlers given a chance before WC?

Part time bowler would have bowled better than this Siraj, what a bogus selection for this important match.

The KWK show has received flak from all quarters after cricketers Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul created a storm for their ‘misogynist’ and ‘sexist’ remarks on the show. Pandya spoke about “hook-ups” with several women and said he liked to observe women at bars or nightclubs. It has led the BCCI imposing a temporary ban on the cricketers, and sending them back home from Australia.
Meanwhile, in the absence of some of India’s frontline pacers, like Jasprit Bumrah and Umesh Yadav, it was a good opportunity for Siraj to make an impression. However, so far he has failed to achieve that.
