American electric carmaker Tesla will be globally unveiling their Model 3 car on March 31.

Tesla’s most anticipated and affordable sedan – Model 3’s first teaser image was also revealed by the carmakers recently.

Model 3 is also expected to be the first Tesla model that will be sold in the Indian market.

It is believed that special few who have been invited to Tesla’s event will also get a chance to book the car with an initial token amount of $1000 (little over Rs.66,000).

Model 3 shares most of its design and style with that of Tesla’s sedan Model S.

The new teaser image doesn’t reveals much, but an outline shows that Model 3 could be smaller in dimensions than that of the Model S.

The car also seems to have a lower roofline and a newly designed side mirrors.

After the token booking on March 31, Tesla will open their website ‘Tesla.com’ for others on April 1.

Reports state that it might take about two years to reach the market even though the online booking would be open for people from April 1 itself.

The delay in Tesla’s Model 3 car is due to production issues as the company still needs to have their Gigafactory fully operational.

The car would be open to global market and thus available to Indian buyers. But it might have to take the CBU route, which comes with a premium price tag.

In the past, Tesla’s Chief Information Officer Jay Vijayan had said that the company is considering building a manufacturing plant in India, but there has been no further development in this regard.
