In the last decade, Indian cinema has evolved to a great extent, and it looks like great scripts are finally getting their due. With films like ‘Race 3’ and ‘Veere Di Wedding’ bombing at the box-office, it shows that the audience is carving for great stories that can captivate them, and not shirtless superstars. Though parallel films like ‘Raazi’ and ‘October’ have enjoyed commercial success, there is yet one genre that is not widely accepted in India i.e horror. And Sohum Shah’s ‘Tumbadd’ might be the film to break this jinx.
‘Tumbbad’ is a mythological thriller that will be released in four languages – Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, and Telegu.
Produced by acclaimed director, Aanand L Rai, this ambitious project took six years in the making.
Through its spine-chilling teaser, one can conclude that the movie is based on the origin of Indian Goddess, Devi and her first-born child, Hastar.
This visually-stunning film became the first Indian film to open at the prestigious Venice International Film Critics’ Week on August 9.
It stars Sohum Shah in the lead role, who previously starred alongside Kangana Ranaut in ‘Simran’. Raju Hirani describes this film as a great work of art.
Without much ado, watch the thrilling teaser here, and you would want to see it again and again.
