A few days ago, India celebrated Teachers Day but soon after the day when the contribution of teachers to the society and lives of their students is celebrated, a shameful act by teachers of a school in Ashoknagar city of Madhya Pradesh has come to light.
Teachers of Brilliant Public School in Trilokpuri colony of Ashoknagar had asked students to bring Rs. 50 each for Teachers Day celebration. But the day after that, students who did not bring the money were taken to the terrace of the school, given murga punishment and beaten with a stick by the teachers. The students were crying incessantly but the teachers did not stop punishing them.
A person named Surendra Raghuvanshi captured the entire incident in a video and shared it on social media after which it went viral in no time. In the video, the teachers can be clearly seen punishing and hitting the children with a stick. Upon learning about the punishment given to children, the district education officer (DEO) created an investigation team to probe into the matter and reached the school on Wednesday afternoon. The students revealed the entire story whereas the teachers refused to say anything.
The DEO said that the moderator of the school is a government employee and that the department can even cancel the accreditation of the school for this punishment given to students. Meanwhile, the school moderator has admitted the teachers’ mistake and added that it will not be repeated. He said that the students who were punished were the ones who were regularly absent from school.
