People have got divided into two teams and are speaking for and against Sonu Nigam’s tweet about Azaan. In a series of tweets, the singer expressed his discontent with the way he has to wake up every day by the sound of Azaan coming from a mosque near his house. Calling it gundagardi, he further said that he doesn’t believe in any temple or gurudwara using electricity to wake up people who don’t follow the religion.

Sonu Nigam’s views gathered a lot of negative attention. Even a Maulvi from Bengal issued a fatwa against Sonu Nigam stating

If anyone can shave his hair, put a garland of old torn shoes around his neck and tour him around the country, I personally announce an award of Rs 10 lakh for that person.

To give a cheeky reply to the Maulvi, Sonu got his head shaved and even demanded the reward money. However, the reports say that the man who issued fatwa against Sonu Nigam is no Maulvi.

Now, Secular humanist, exiled Bangladeshi author, Taslima Nasreen, who has been residing in India since 1994 has come out in support of Sonu Nigam.

In a series of tweets, Taslima has slammed the Imams and has called them liars.

The police are keeping Sonu Nigam under tight security as his statement has offended many. What are your views regarding Sonu Nigam and Taslima Nasreen’s tweets? Do share your opinion in the comments section below!
