Actress Tanushree Dutta has started the #MeToo movement in Bollywood. The actress broke her silence on being sexually assaulted by actor Nana Patekar, after eight years. Her statements have clearly divided Bollywood in two groups – The supporters and the non-supporters. Tanushree has also named choreographer Ganesh Acharya and ‘Horn OK Pleassss’ director Rakesh Sarang as offenders. The case is now under the media scrutiny. All big names in the industry are being questioned over the matter. Recently, superstar Amitabh Bachchan had to face some serious questions from the media.
During the trailer launch of Amitabh Bachchan’s upcoming film ‘Thugs of Hindostan’, a journalist tried to take his opinion over the entire matter. When asked to comment, this is what Bachchan replied safely!
“Neither am I Tanushree, not am I Nana Patekar, so how can I comment on this?”
Though Amitabh Bachchan has received backlash for his statement, here is what Tanushree Dutta has to say about it:
“I’m hurt, as these are people who do movies on social causes. They play roles in films and the audience applauds. But when it comes to standing up and doing something about what is happening in front of you, there are these evasive statements that don’t make sense.”
Meanwhile, Nana Patekar has issued a legal notice to Tanushree Dutta asking her to apologize for her allegations. The actor’s lawyer Rajendra Shikodkar has termed these allegations groundless. Nana Patekar has denied any role in the incident. This is what he said recently:
“It’s all about what do you want to believe. Do you really think ki me itka ghanerda manoos aahe? (Do you think I am so disgusting?) Do people not know me at all? I don’t need others to validate my good conduct.”
On the other hand, Tanushree Dutta’s father Tapan Dutta also commented on the entire issue. He quoted:
“Nana Patekar would have been behind the bars had the police taken action against the accused without having any biases. At the time of the incident, he was an active member of Maharashtra’s MNS party, due to which the police worked to save the people of Jharkhand instead of helping them. We still don’t know about the status of the FIR filed by Tanushree.”
