Tanmay Bhat is the guy we see in those really funny AIB videos. He has tickled our funny bone and even earned our applause for that famous roast.
He is good, no doubt, but what he has done this time has made some social media users and practically anyone who understands good comedy terribly angry.
In the videos Tanmay shows the two legends fighting over whether Virat Kohli is a great cricketer or not.
Perhaps Tanmay knew that the video will fan a flame, so he posted this while sharing it on Facebook:
“Sachin vs Lata Civil War (I make such nonsense on my Snapchat – follow me there – ID: Thetanmay) (Also I obvously love Lata and Sachin, just having some fun).”
But some celebs are furious with what Bhat has done.
Am absolutely shocked. Disrespect is not cool and neither is it funny. https://t.co/ymYPi9hxuv

Those offended pointed out that saying something like “Jon Snow is dead and so should you” for someone like Lata Mangeshkar is not comedy but insult.
“Jon snow is dead so you (Lata Mangeshkar) should die too” AIB’s idea of humour.

Dear Tanmay Bhatt,
Lata Mangeshkar looks much younger than Melisandre .. At least 10-20 years younger. pic.twitter.com/qBMaY5JDwu

It’s okay to subject people to humour, even legends like Lata & Sachin. But please show me the humour in that Tanmay video. It’s just abuse

Of course @AllIndiaBakchod are free to joke on Sachin or Lata, but aren’t they supposed to be funny?

Tanmay Bhatt is probably the only one who finds himself funny & laughs at his own lame jokes @thetanmay

Yet some supported Tanmay:
No one is so sacrosanct that they can’t be made fun of. Go ahead Tanmay Bhatt. Get India rid of this FanTard culture

If Tanmay Bhatt ‘s jokes offends you then stop paying heed to it. It’s as simple. Don’t idolize some1 to an extent that u bcom a fanantic.

Comedy is fine, even mimicking famous personalities. Yet words matter.
